Your inputs

A label for the part of the circuit being dimensioned (3.3.1). One section per calculation.

Selects the application-specific cells of Table A.2 and which pollution degrees are allowed (Table A.4, 8.3.2).

A standard railway supply sets the minimum UNm from Table D.1. 'entered' = type UNm below.

r.m.s., at least the highest working voltage in the section (4.2.2). 0 = use the Table D.1 minimum of the supply. For three-phase equipment on Table A.1 use the line-to-neutral value. Above 27.5 kV is outside Table A.2. Range: 0 to 27,500 V

method_1 = from UNm and the overvoltage category (4.2.3.2). method_2 = from a calculated or measured working peak voltage (4.2.3.3), for protective control only.

table_a1 = low-voltage circuit not powered directly by the contact line (UNm up to 1000 V); table_a2 = powered by the contact line, or a traction power circuit. auto = A.1 for a battery supply, A.2 for a traction supply; an entered UNm needs an explicit choice.

Method 1 only (4.2.3.2, with the application guidance of 8.2.1 and 8.3.1).

Highest peak in the section, transients and induced voltages included. Taken as UNi. Up to 325 kV, the last Table A.3 row. Range: 0 to 325 kV

functional = needed only for the circuit to work; basic = protects against shock; supplementary = an independent second layer; double = basic + supplementary (each layer dimensioned as basic); reinforced = one system as good as double (3.6).

Table A.4 / Annex E. Rolling stock: PD1–PD4 only (8.3.2). PD4A: fixed installations and track-side. PD4B: fixed installations only.

Above sea level. Up to 2000 m no correction; above it Table A.9 or A.10 (5.4). Tables stop at 5000 m. Range: 0 to 5,000 m

By CTI (4.5.2.3): I ≥ 600; II 400–600; IIIa 175–400; IIIb 100–175.

Printed wiring and associated components, UNm up to 1000 V. Table A.5 covers PD1 and PD2 only; at PD3 or worse Table A.6 is used as a conservative fallback.

Only changes the 17.25 kV and 27.5 kV rows of Table A.2 (F.2.9, or a purchaser's requirement).

Read only for fixed installations with special switching at the 27.5 kV row, where Table A.2 prints two values per cell (200 / 250 kV at OV3, 250 / 325 kV at OV4) and footnote c leaves the choice to the purchaser.

Off: the next tabulated row at or above the value, as the standard's example (Table F.1) reads it. On: linear interpolation, which Tables A.3, A.5, A.6, A.9 and A.10 permit.
